We are home again after a five day road trip. 1730 miles, six bikes, roads in six states, and over 550 pictures. Tomorrow I’m planning to catch up on email and blog subscriptions, and start sorting thru the photos for future posts. For a number of reasons I’ve decided to give up the Post A Day 2011 Challenge, the main reason is that it will free up time for me to take care of other things.
This was my longest motorcycle trip in both time and distance. New Zoom definitely passed the comfort test: absolutely no pain or discomfort at all. It was a fantastic trip but I’m also glad to be home and have no doubt that I’ll sleep well tonight.
The trip has been fantastic so far, I just really haven’t had time to work on posts and pictures. Just sharing this one for the weekly photo challenge:
Today was A’s last day of high school, I’m feeling old. Got the big grocery shopping trip done and a list of dinners that the kids can make while we’re gone. Laundry and all the other cleaning on my list have been taken care of. D is in PA, he should be home late in the morning. The plan is to meet the rest of the group after lunch tomorrow and head down to VA where we will stay overnight, approximately 300 miles. The weather forecast looks excellent for this first part of the trip.
This is pretty much all the packing I’ve done: lists and electronics. I always worry about not taking enough so I’m counting on D to help keep that under control. The cabin has a washer and dryer plus I want to have enough room to bring home souvenirs for the kids.
Time to finish on the computer and get some sleep…
After Busy Monday I ended up going to bed at a reasonable time, but of course had trouble falling asleep and kept waking up. I finally gave up and got out of bed much earlier than planned.
What next? Get the dogs outside followed by their breakfast, start the coffee, sit down and face the computer, check email. Nothing from D but an email from A confirming what time I’m supposed to pick him up today (day two of senior exams), followed by a text shortly after informing me of a change in plans for Thursday. Ok, this isn’t an emergency, no stress, breathe….
It’s gray and rainy but warm; both dogs are sound asleep, they’re not crazy. This morning’s goals are to get the upstairs bathroom cleaned, start a load of laundry, and try to figure out what’s wrong with the vacuum. The van needs gas before heading out to the high school. It’s been over a week so I’m curious what that will end up costing me. Stop at CVS on the way home for a few things and to argue with the pharmacist about C’s auto-refill prescription that never auto-refills.
More laundry this afternoon, figure out what to make the kids for dinner, finish the grocery list for tomorrow, take a shower, set up bills to be paid…I think I need a vacation 😉 And for future posts I’d like to figure out how to insert a slideshow rather than a bunch of pictures…
At 4pm I realized that I hadn’t eaten anything today. Nothing.
Mondays are usually busy anyhow, but Thursday we’re leaving on a long-weekend ride. I currently have two Open Office lists going, one in email, and another on paper. Of course there’s my packing list which in addition to clothing includes things like my driver’s license (I normally don’t take it when we ride), ipod charger, etc. I also have to arrange for chores to be taken care of around the house and who will feed the dogs and make sure they have water. I have to plan meals for the time that we’re gone, write a grocery list, and go shopping. D is still out of town and communication has just been a handful of emails since he left. I won’t see him until some time the day we leave. It’ll be a stressful week for me until all the to-do lists have been taken care of.
It’s been a day where I feel like I’ve done a hundred different things yet accomplished nothing. It’s the first day in almost a week that my stomach feels anywhere close to normal though. So I finally gave up, went and got myself some Taco Bell and will be watching the season finale of House with A and E later this evening.
Today’s writing prompt at The Daily Post: If you got a tattoo what would it be? I have one, got it done about 10 years ago. I’ve never regretted it and would definitely like to get another someday…
Another entry for the weekly photo challenge. A tiny zoom-at least in comparison to the New Zoom– found in a collage at the high school’s recent art show:
I once owned a very cool severum named Tiny. When first purchased he was the size of a quarter; he was approximately 10″ in length when he died. He lived in a 75g aquarium with a similar-sized oscar named Baby. They got along quite well and had a lot of personality: both very nice fish. This photo was enlarged and framed and now hangs on the wall in our living room.
My day was spent shuffling between the couch and my computer chair. This morning I woke up to discover that last night’s hmm, I have an upset stomach had turned into full-blown crud, which I assume is flu. Chills, body aches, and a general feeling of nausea. Oh joy. D is going out of town to visit family and won’t be back for six days. Tomorrow N is working tech her her school’s musical, at the very least I have to pick her up after the show. C and E are participating in Relay for Life this weekend. I have to dig sleeping bags out of the basement, get them packed and drive them to the school. Promised the boys I’d taken them for haircuts and of course all the usual grocery shopping, laundry, etc etc.
Now I have a headache to add to the list; just took my temperature which is just over 101° so I guess it’s time for bed. I’ve been struggling about a picture for this post so I’ll leave you with some hopeful smiles:
